Dr. P. Sivakumar, Director, CVRDE has been elevated as Distinguished Scientist (DS) w.e.f 11th Sep 2015. Dr. P. Sivakumar graduated in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai in 1980, post graduated in Production Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology in 1987 and obtained his PhD., in the field of Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), Chennai in the year 2011.

He started his career as Scientist 'B' in DRDO (CVRDE) in 1984 after a stint of a couple of years at private industry. Dr. P. Sivakumar, contributed for more than three decades in the Design & Development of systems, sub-systems of Armoured Fighting Vehicles and its variants.

During this phase, he developed 800 hp automatic transmission, 150 hp automatic transmission, mechanical steering system for indigenous 1500 hp automatic transmission, compact transmission system for 1400 hp power pack and many sub systems of RENK (ARJUN MBT) transmission. He also developed Torque Converter for 150 hp & 550 hp automatic transmission, Concept of Futuristic Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) and Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) besides the design of Compact 1500 hp, Automatic transmission for Futuristic Main Battle Tank (FMBT).

He completed the 'Armoured Vehicle Technology Course' at DIAT, Pune successfully with special distinction in 1998, and 'Military Vehicle Technology Course' conducted by Cranfield University, UK at Chennai in 2001.

He proved Accelerated Usage Cum Reliability Trials (AUCRT) very effectively and efficiently that lead to the induction of first regiment of ARJUN MBT Mk-I in the Indian Army. He has demonstrated & proven the Medium Fording capability of ARJUN MBT and delivered the production tanks to Users successfully.

He was instrumental in conversion training of the first regiment at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges (MFFR) and the subsequent comparative trials with T-90 to decide the deployment of ARJUN MBT. He has organized successfully a third party auditing of ARJUN MBT by an expert tank manufacturer from abroad, who after evaluation of all the design parameters stated that the Arjun MBT is the only tank which performs efficiently in Indian terrain requirements and they also declared Arjun MBT as "Desert Ferrari", that resulted in the principle acceptance of the second regiment of Arjun MBT Mk-I tanks.

He conceptualized Arjun MBT Mk-II configuration, a multi-disciplinary technological marvel, incorporated 73 tank- fittable improvements, conducted user trials and successfully completed the programme with his leadership acumen in a record time of two years.

He has accomplished the development of Arjun Catapult as per General Staff Qualitative Requirement (GSQR), organized a field trial at MFFR/Pokhran Field Firing Ranges (PFFR) and successfully completed the PSQR trials to the entire satisfaction of the user. GSQR trials are being carried out.

He has completed successfully all the development activities of Carrier Command Post Tracked (CCPT) and expecting the indent for 43 Nos (Rs. 344 Cr) shortly. He developed the unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) with all missions (Surveillance, Mine detection & NBC Reccee) and successfully executed 400 hp power pack trial evaluations.

He finalized hull structure design of Arjun ARRV carried out preliminary static & dynamic analyses; finalized PSQR with EME Directorate and the prototype development is in the advanced stage.

Under his stewardship, the manufacturing technology of PTO shaft for Light Combat aircraft (LCA -TEJAS) was successfully transferred to two production agencies; development of 5 kW Generator & hydraulic filters and productionization of high speed bearings for LCA (TEJAS) were also successful. With his dynamic vision, he steered for the completion of Landing Gear design for Rustom-II Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV); achieved the major mile stone of Drop test for MLG & NLG and strength test for MLG.

He has authored 3 books, guided more than 40 academic projects, and published more than 50 technical papers in many national & international conference/ journals.

He is the recipient of "National Design Award- 2012" and "National Design Award in Mechanical Engineering" from the Institution of Engineers (India) through National Design Research Forum, "Defence Technology Spin off Award" of DRDO from Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, "DRDO Performance Excellence Award", "Scientist of the Year Award- 2010" from Hon'ble Raksha Mantri , "Distinguished Public Service Award" by VIT, Vellore, "Silicon Trophy Award" in 2010, "Guest of Honour'' from MSRSAS, Bangalore, "Defence Technology Spin-off award" from Hon'ble Raksha Mantri, Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa)" from Sathyabama University for his outstanding contribution in the development of Transmission Systems for Armoured Fighting Vehicles, "Poornaratna Award" for his outstanding contribution towards defence technologies, "Achiever Award" from Anna Univ. Chennai in 2016, "Scientific Excellence Award" from Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu in 2016.

He is a member of many professional institutions like American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA), USA, American Society of Metals (ASM), USA, Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), Fluid Power Society of India (FPSI), Bureau of Indian Standards Committee for Transmission elements.

College, Chennai, member of Governing Council-VELS University, Chennai, external member of the Board of Studies - Centre for Defence Technology Studies, Hindustan University, Chennai, member of Steering Council for Excellence - Park College of Engg & Technology, Coimbatore.

Dr.P.Sivakumar is a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) and he has also been elected as Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) for his distinguished contribution to engineering.

Dr. P. V. Venkitakrishnan is a native of Trichur, Kerala joined VSSC in 1983. He holds a B.Tech. (Mech. Engg.) degree from Cochin University, M.Tech. (Prodn.) and Ph.D. in Mech. Engg. From IIT, Madras. He also holds an MBA & Post Graduate Diploma in Production Management to his credit. He has contributed significantly in Aerospace Manufacturing as well as industry and infrastructure development for the past 33 years. Previously, he was Deputy Director, LPSC during 2010 to 2015 and Deputy Project Director, GSLV Mk-III from 2002 to 2010. He was holding the post of Deputy Director, VSSC before taking over as Director, IPRC.He was instrumental in setting up HAL Aerospace Division in the development phase of PSLV Programme. He has contributed significantly in the developmental phase of hardwares for ASLV, PSLV, GSLV Mk-II and Mk-III. Efforts taken by him for indigenization of metallic materials for aerospace applications is noteworthy.He was a recipient of National Merit Scholarship and has got a number of publications in National and International journals. Member of various professional bodies including Fellow of Institute of Engineers (India), Fellow of Indian Institute of Metals and member of European Congress for Aerospace Sciences (EUCASS).Currently National President – SAME (Society of Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers).He was a recipient of `ANWESHAK’ Award from the Society of Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers (SAME) 2009.ISRO Team Excellence Award – 2010.ISRO Individual Merit Award – 2011.Team Leader – ISRO Team Excellence Award – 2012.Team Leader – ISRO Team Excellence Award – 2015.Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT, Madras - 2017.

Krishna M. Sivalingam, Professor and Head for the Department of CSE, IIT Madras, Chennai, INDIA. Previously, he was a Professor in the Dept. of CSEE at University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Maryland, USA; with the School of EECS at Washington State University, Pullman, USA from 1997 until 2002; and with the University of North Carolina Greensboro, USA from 1994 until 1997. He has also conducted research at Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ, and at AT&T Labs in Whippany,NJ.

He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1994 and 1990 respectively; and his B.E. degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 1988 from Anna University's College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai (Madras), India. While at SUNY Buffalo, he was a Presidential Fellow from 1988 to 1991.

His research interests include wireless networks, wireless sensor networks, optical wavelength division multiplexed networks, and performance evaluation.

He holds three patents in wireless networks and has published several research articles including more than fifty journal publications. He has published an edited book on Next Generation Network Technologies in 2011, on Wireless Sensor Networks in 2004 and on optical WDM networks in 2000 and 2004.

He is serving as the Editor-in- Chief (along with Prof. Byrav Ramamurthy, USA) for Springer Photonic Network Communications Journal and the EAI Endorsed Transactions on Future Internet (along with Prof. Murat Yuksel, USA). He has served as a member of the Editorial Board for several international journals including IEEE Transactions of Mobile Computing, ACM/Springer Wireless Networks Journal and Elsevier Optical Switching and Networking Journal.

He serves on the Steering Committee of IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommunications Systems (ANTS) and ICST International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing, Networking and Services (MobiQuitous).He is a Fellow of the IEEE, Fellow of INAE and an ACM Distinguished Scientist.

Xiao-Zhi Gao earned his D.Sc. (Tech.) degree from the Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University), Finland in 1999. In January 2004, he was appointed as a Docent (Adjunct Professor) at the same university. He has been working as a senior research fellow in the Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland since October 2016. He is also a Guest Professor/Visiting Professors at several universities in China. He has published more than 350 technical papers on refereed journals and international conferences, and his current Google Scholar h-index is 23. His research interests are nature-inspired computing methods (e.g., neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence, and artificial immune systems) with their applications in optimization, data mining, machine learning, control, fault diagnosis, signal processing, and industrial electronics.

Dr.S.MathavaKumar is currently working as a Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT, Madras. He obtained his BE,ME degree in GCT, Coimbatore and Ph.D from IIT, Madras. He has more than 15 years of experiences. He has published more than 80 papers in internationals journals, international and national conferences .He has received best paper award and best poster award. He acts as scientific committee member and international advisory committee member for international conferences. He has received 9 projects from different funding agencies like SERB, DST, FRG, ICSR, IIT, WTI, and MPL. Etc.

Dr. K. Malathi completed her BE- Electronics and Communication Engineering and ME- Microwave and Optical Engineering from A C Tech, Karaikudi in the years 1988 and 1990 respectively. She received her PhD on “Analysis of Rectangular Shielded Stripline Enclosures” from Anna University, Chennai in 2004. Dr. K. Malathi is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Anna University, Chennai. She has over 25 years of teaching experience since 1991. Dr. K. Malathi has Supervised 11 successful PhD dissertations and currently supervising 7 research scholars working in various domains of RF and Microwave Engineering. Some of her research interests are antennas, UWB microwave components, Electromagnetic shielding and signal integrity analysis in RF printed circuit boards.  She is a member of IEEE and an active reviewer for reputed International and National Journals. She has published 3 Indian patents and has over 40 publications in International Journals that include IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, IEEE Microwave and Wireless Component Letters, IET Microwave Antennas and Propagation, etc.

S.Radha, Professor & Head, Department of ECE, SSN College of Engineering,Chennai. She has 25 years of teaching and 16 years of research experience in the area of Wireless Networks. She received her B.E. degree from Madurai Kamaraj University, in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1989.She obtained her Master degree in Applied Electronics with First Rank from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore and earned the Ph.D degree from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai. She worked as a visiting researcher at Carnegie Mellon University for a period of six month under the advice of Prof.Raj Rajkumar in the area of Wireless Sensor Networks. She has 65 publications in International and National Journals and Conferences in the area of Mobile Ad hoc Network and Wireless Sensor Networks. She has successfully supervised about 11 Ph.D students and supervising 7 research scholars doing research in the area of sensor networks, IoT and cognitive radios. She contributed a book chapter in the springer's lecture notes on Electrical Engineering. She is the recipient of IETE - S K Mitra Memorial Award in October 2006 from IETE Council of INDIA, best paper awards in various conferences and CTS - SSN Best Faculty Award - 2007 & 2009 for the outstanding academic performance during the years 2006 - 07 and 2008 - 09. She has completed 3 sponsored projects worth of Rs.53 Lakh as principal Investigator sponsored by Indira Gandhi Atomic Centre for Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT),Chennai, and INTEL Bangalore. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator for the projects worth of Rs. 57.5 Lakh sponsored by DST and SSN TRUST. She is a member of IEEE, Fellow of IETE, and Life member of ISTE.

Dr.N. Nallusamy, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SSN College of Engineering, Old Mahabalipuram Road, Kalavakkam-603110, Tamilnadu. He received a PhD in Thermal Energy Storage for Solar heating applications from Anna University in 2007.He received his B.E from Bharathiar University in 1992 and obtained his M.E in Thermal Power Engineering from Annamalai University in 1995. He has 20 years of teaching in various engineering colleges. His research focuses on thermal energy storage for heating and cooling applications and alternate fuels for IC engines. Professor Nallusamy’s teaching interests include power plant engineering, heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics and renewable energy sources. He is life member in Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and Indian Society for Heat and Mass Transfer (ISHMT). He has received CTS-SVCE best Faculty award-2011 for the outstanding performance. He was the instrumental person for the installation and commissioning of 35 NW3 biogas plant using food and kitchen wastes in SVCE.

Dr.T. Raja, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Venkateswara college of Engineering, Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram District. He received his PhD from Anna University, Chennai in 2010. He has around 21 years of teaching experience in various engineering colleges. He received B.E from University of Madras in 1992 and M.E from Bharathiar University in 1998. His research interest includes materials and its characterization, composite materials, tribology, condition monitoring and vibrations. He has published over 15 research papers in International/National Journals and Conferences. His teaching interests are Design of machine elements, Design of transmission elements and Mechanics of Machines.

Dr. N. Thangavel, Professor and Head, Jeppiaar Engineering College, Management Studies, Chennai. Received his Ph.D. and MBA (University Rank Holder). degrees in Management and B.Com. from Madras University; Completed M.Com (University Rank Holder) and PGDMM from Annamalai University. Received Honorary Degree D.Lit. from Diandra International University. He has more than 25 years of teaching experience with excellent domain knowledge of Finance, Marketing and Human Resource Management. He is an approved Research Guide in 8 Universities in India. Also an examiner, question paper setter, paper valuation & Thesis Evaluation (M.Phil. & Ph.D.) across Indian Universities.He has supervised 15 successful Ph.D. dissertations and currently supervising 20 research scholars from various universities. Dr.C. Gopinath completed his B.E. degree from Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, karaikudi and M.E from Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Annamalai University, Chidambaram. He completed his Ph.D from Anna University Chennai in 2014. He is a member of AMIE, ISTE and MISCA. He has been in teaching for 16 years. His area of interest includes Power Electronics application to power system, Renewable energy resources and Design and analysis of inverters. He has published several papers in National and International Journals.

Dr. P. Somasundaram is associated with College of Engineering, Anna University, Guindy from 2000. He has held various positions as Deputy controller of Examinations, Anna University, Programme officer of NSS etc., He has guided 9 Ph.D Scholars. He has published in many national and international Journals. He has chaired various National and International Conferences. His area of Interest includes Power System and AI application to power system problems. He is a life time member of ISTE.

Dr.K.Regin Bose, completed his MCA degree from madras university, ME in Computer Science and Engineering from Crescent Engineering College under Anna university. He also did M.Phil Computer Science and MS (Education Management) from Madurai Kamaraj University and Alagappa University respectively. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy from B.S Abdur Rahman University. He started his carrier as Lecturer from M.N.M Jain Engineering College. He served in Madha, Rajiv Gandhi, Sri Ramanujar and Arignar Anna Engineering colleges. He has a teaching experience of 12 years. Beyond academic work he also contributed towards several administrative works such as NBA coordinator, ISO coordinator, YRC coordinator, NSS coordinator, HOD and Dean in various colleges. He acted as a course coordinator for certificate course e-commerce which is sponsored by UGC in Guru Nanak College. He worked as a Visiting Faculty in National Institute of Technology, Nagaland. Currently, he is working as Associate Professor in CSE Department in Sri Muthu Kumaran Institute of Technology. His area of interest includes mobile communication, computer network and network security.
